The world's first curved LED video walls

When London hosted the Olympics in 2012, it resulted in numerous records and world firsts – one of which was thanks to Pioneer Group.

But it wasn’t a record on the track, in the field or at the velodrome – it was the creation of the world’s first curved LED videowalls for the £60m Emirates Air Line cable car.

The cable car – which travels from the Greenwich peninsula (South Terminal) to the O2 arena to the Royal docks (North Terminal) to the Excel exhibition centre – also features three other videowalls at each terminal.

The year-long project consisted of the initiation, planning and design, installation and implementation to deliver two Samsung 3×3 landscape UD55 screen video walls at the terminal entrances, two Samsung 3×2 portrait 46 screen video walls at the gate lines and two curved 8×3 Portrait UD55 screens at platform level make up the video walls at both terminals. The two curved 8×3 video walls were designed with close cooperation of bracket and mount manufacturers UNICOL.
